For greater clarity to patients we decided to list
the professional services provided by PHYSIOTHERAPY not in terms of the wide array
of treatment modalities used, but rather in terms of general conditions/ailments this profession can effectively treat.
Please click on link "Treatment list" for a synopsis
in Lay terms of these general conditions/ailments.
Did you know . . .
Physiotherapists are health and movement scientists
and clinicians who make use of their PROFESSIONAL
KNOWLEDGE, OBSERVATIONAL AND HANDS-ON SKILLS,
EXPERIENCE, HI-TECH EQUIPMENT AND SPECIFIC EXERCISE
THERAPY to, after careful assesment/evaluation,
give you the right information, advice(referral if necessary),
specific training and physical treatment for your individual
health needs.
Most Physiotherapists have 4 years of tertiary education, and
continue their professional education through post-graduate
courses, workshops, symposiums, lectures etc.
All practising Physiotherapists are registered with the HPCSA
(Health Professions Council of SA).
Although Physiotherapists work in close collaboration with
other medical practitioners, Physiotherapists are first line
practitioners. You may therefore consult a Physiotherapist
without the need of a referral. Physiotherapy is usually
covered by all good Medical Aid Schemes.
